Bargaining Update: Agreement Reached!
The UFF-FSU and the FSU-BOT reached agreement Wednesday on a three-year contract that includes salary increases and domestic partner benefits. We will send an update with details soon, but here are the highlights.
Salary
Eligibility and effective dates differ slightly among elements. See the Article 23 “TA” for details.
Performance-based increases: 1.1% permanent increase to all faculty with an overall 2013 annual evaluation of satisfactory
Departmental merit: 0.5% of the faculty salary base to be distributed according to departmental evaluation criteria and procedures as permanent increases
Deans’ merit: 0.1% permanent increase to be distributed to in-unit faculty members.
Dean’s merit bonuses: non-recurring Legislative bonuses in the amount of $600 to 35% of faculty in each department in June 2014
Competitive pay adjustments: Legislative permanent increases of $1,000 for faculty earning more than $40,000 and $1,400 for faculty earning $40,000 or less
Promotion raises of 12% and 15%
Administrative Discretionary Increases: up to 1% of the faculty salary base
Sustained Performance Increases: 3% permanent increase to full professors and eminent scholars in rank for 7 years who have not already received an SPI or SPP increase
Domestic Partner Benefits
Faculty with domestic partners whose employer offers no benefits are eligible for a stipend of approximately $537 per month to defray the cost of purchasing health insurance.
Other changes
Other improvements include the extension of eligibility for paid parental leave to C&G faculty. The teams also agreed to changes in the articles covering faculty relationships with students under their supervision, evaluations of department chairs, and the number of hours of leave faculty can transfer into the University from prior Florida public-sector employment, along with several others.
Ratification
We are pleased to have signed a salary agreement that stipulates raises of at least 1.7% for most faculty members in addition to legislative increases, and we are thrilled to have finally brought to pass an agreement on domestic partnership benefits. This is a big win for faculty, as we’ve been arguing for it for many years.
Ratification balloting will be held on September 25 and 26 at several locations on campus (details to be announced), so please come out and vote!
