UFF-FSU Bargaining Update August 21, 2025

UFF-FSU Bargaining Update August 14, 2025

Dear FSU Colleagues,

We are happy to announce that we have settled all open articles for the 2025-2028 Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)! The teams met on Wednesday to discuss Article 23, Salaries, and after several rounds of proposals and a clear signal that the BOT team was at the limit, we settled on the following:

 Final
Promotions (already implemented)12% / 15%
Sustained Performance Increase (SPI) for top ranked specialized faculty every 5 years3%
Post-Tenure Review: Professors3% Meets / 5% Exceeds
Post-Tenure Review: Associate Professors$4,000 Bonus Meets / $6,000 Bonus Exceeds
Performance 1.75%
Department Merit 0.50%
Deans’ Merit0%
Market Equity$0
Performance Bonus$1,000
Administrative Discretionary RaisesUp to 0.70% of the faculty salary base

While of course we would have liked to have seen more movement on raises, as far as we know right now, we have negotiated one of the highest total raises in the State University System.

We have some major wins this year, including:

·         An improved and much more flexible parental leave policy that allows faculty to split the one-time 6-month leave we have now into two paid leaves and allows two faculty members to take leave for the same birth or adoption.

·         A definition of “scope of employment” that covers disputes of intellectual property and an agreement that such disputes can go to arbitration if need be.

·         We protected faculty ownership rights to their own teaching materials.

·         We negotiated a deadline for the completion of classroom safety implementation of panic and lockdown buttons and locks as recommended by the University Public Safety Advisory Committee.

·         We negotiated a provision that mandates no quotas for Post-Tenure Review.

·         We negotiated that departmental faculty develop guidelines for the consideration of effort related to teaching assignments and clarified how last-minute teaching assignments will be handled.

The teams also signed a Memorandum of Agreement that outlines the dates for the Fall and Winter breaks.

We are looking forward to celebrating these victories with some of you tonight at The Bark with food, drinks, cake, music, and camaraderie.

Watch for a complete summary of this year’s bargaining next week as well as links to all of the tentatively agreed-upon articles. We anticipate ratification voting will be held the week of September 15, so be on the lookout for an email about ratification dates, times, and locations as well.

If you want to help us continue to fight for faculty rights at the bargaining table, in the courts, and in the legislature, the best possible thing you can do is join our union.

In solidarity,
