On November 3, 2010, arbitrator Stanley Sergent, ruling in response to a grievance filed by UFF-FSU, determined that the laying off of 21 tenured FSU faculty the previous summer had been “arbitrary and capricious” and ordered that the lay-offs be rescinded.
